The whole school concert is only weeks away. Thursday the 13th of October is the big day so make sure you have booked your tickets.
Students have been busy practising and making, designing and preparing for the big day.
Here are some photos of students working on props in the art room. Look out for these on the night of the concert.
A big thank you to the Foundation students who decorated with such detail and thought the tiles for the magic carpet and the year 3/4 Students who cut them out and stuck them down to create the magic carpet. It looks lovely and the Foundation students where so proud!
I have been working on a project for the school Greenteam. After meeting with Leigh the Greenteam Teacher we decided we wanted some small works or art for the veggie patch. We wanted something that would last in the weather and look funky and smart. Our plan was to create a Scarecrow Family. So…… two scarechooks, one Scarelady and a Scareman. This is stage one complete. Now to let the kids decorate them!
it was a lovely sunny day this week for the a Canvas Trail. Four Canvases were found in the yard but these four lovely ladies. Well done. I can’t wait to see what these students produce on their own canvas.
The prep students have shown much enthusiasm in the artroom over the past two weeks. They have listed many rules they feel are important and have demonstrated their understanding of these by the way they have been behaving in the art lessons. Well done preps.
The students have been learning about shapes with a special focus on circles. The preps look at a range of artworks by famous artist Sonia Delaunay. Sonia loved circles. She painted them, drew them and cut them up and put them together.
Here are some of her works of art:
The prep students created their own work of art inspired by Sonia Delaunay. They used black paint and cuts or lids to print circles of different sizes on the paper. The works of art looked fantastic!
The year 3/4 students have been using the mediums of collage and paint to finish off their Still Life Rule of Thirds Drawings. I can’t wait to see them finished. They look fantastic so far and the collage tiling is very effective on the painted background.
As the year 3/4 students have been learning about rules in the classroom, we have also been focusing on rules in art. We looked at The Rule of Thirds and how artists use composition to create works of art. We spoke about using scale, balance and proportion (focusing on the art principles and elements) and looked at a range of still life works of art. Our focus artists was Vincent Van Gogh and his sunflower paintings. We spoke about how some of the flowers are on different angles and some cut off the page.
Students then had a go at drawing their own Still Life using a template of The Rule of Thirds. This helped them to think about size, scale and composition.
They are still working of their final pieces.
