2016 Concert- Come Fly With Me Around The World With Disney

Our Whole School concert took place a few weeks ago at the Clocktower Centre in Moonee Ponds.

The students did a fantastic job and the show was a hit. Here are some pics from the night! I wish I had more but it was so busy backstage with all the costumes, props, noise and nerves.

Foundation Primary Colours and Line Unit

The Foundation students have focused on the Art Elements of Colour and Line this term. They have learnt about mixing the primary colours to make the secondary colours and about using lines to make geometric shapes.

Students look at works by famous artist Jean Mondrian. They then drew a design in their visual diaries and coloured this in using crayons to ensure the pattern and design where correct. Students then painted black lines on to white paper to create geometric shapes such as squares and rectangles. These where then filled in using yellow, red and blue paint. They look striking and I think it would be hard to tell one of our students works from an original! screen-shot-2016-09-22-at-3-30-25-pm screen-shot-2016-09-22-at-3-30-42-pm screen-shot-2016-09-22-at-3-30-52-pm screen-shot-2016-09-22-at-3-31-03-pmimg_5095 img_5096 img_5097 img_5098 img_5099 img_5100 img_5101 img_5102

Foundation Dance Unit

The Foundation students have begun a new unit of work this term in PA.

They will be working on the unit of Dance and Music. The music unit will be specifically focusing on singing.

They have been having lots of fun taking part in some dance activities using props such as Scarves.

I love these photos I snapped of some of the perps dancing with the scarves. They are moving so fast the photos are almost blurry.

ArtVision 2015 Art Show!

What a great night! ArtVision 2015 was a fantastic celebration of the artists work from the year. It was so wonderful to see the detail and dedication that went into each creation. The students should be so proud of the work they had on display and the work they produced over the year. It was lovely to see how excited each child was on the night when they showed their families their works of art.

Thank you to the parents who volunteered their time and energy to help set up and take down as well as help out on the night. A big thank you to Kevin and Nicholas who picked up and dropped off the art stands for us. With out this help it would have have gone so smoothly.

It was a great night!

Scarechooks and Scarepeople!

I have been working on a project for the school Greenteam. After meeting with Leigh the Greenteam Teacher we decided we wanted some small works or art for the veggie patch. We wanted something that would last in the weather and look funky and smart. Our plan was to create a Scarecrow Family. So…… two scarechooks, one Scarelady and a Scareman. This is stage one complete. Now to let the kids decorate them! image

Birds, Birds and More Birds!

The year 1/2 students have been working on a Bird Sculpture project this term. They are looking fantastic. Enjoy looking at the photos as they progress and develop. I can’t wait to display these at the art show!

Year 3/4 Still Life Collage & Paint

image image imageThe year 3/4 students have been using the mediums of collage and paint to finish off their Still Life Rule of Thirds Drawings. I can’t wait to see them finished. They look fantastic so far and the collage tiling is very effective on the painted background.

As the year 3/4 students have been learning about rules in the classroom, we have also been focusing on rules in art. We looked at The Rule of Thirds and how artists use composition to create works of art. We spoke about using scale, balance and proportion (focusing on the art principles and elements) and looked at a range of still life works of art. Our focus artists was Vincent Van Gogh and his sunflower paintings. We spoke about how some of the flowers are on different angles and some cut off the page.

Students then had a go at drawing their own Still Life using a template of The Rule of Thirds. This helped them to think about size, scale and composition.

They are still working of their final pieces.

5/6 Mixed Media

On Friday I was clearing the drying rack in the Artroom and having a closet look at the year 5/6 Mixed Media En Plein Air art works. They all look fantastic! I took a few quick pics of some that looked almost finished and thought I’d share the progress with you! image image image image image

May the odds be ever in your favour! Canvas Trail!

Here are the lucky students with their found Canvases from today’s trail. image image image image image

It was another lucky day for the year 3/4 students finding all five canvases. As I was busy teaching today I was lucky enough to be assisted by some of the past Canvas Trail hunters who hid this weeks canvases for me.

Here is a close up of each canvas and a little bit of information about the artist? imageimage

Rasta is a graffiti artist who works with a range of mediums from paint pens and texts to spray cans to pencils. Thanks Rasta! image image

Another canvas by Rasta! image image

Millie is a six year old artist who wanted to join in the trail and create her own work of art! Thanks Millie. image image

This fantastic canvas was created by artist Amon Brock. Amon is the son of our super star 5/6 teacher Ant! Thanks so much Amon.

This canvas was created by 3/4 student Aaliyah. A fantastic canvas. Well done.

Another great Canvas Trail. Thanks to all who joined the hunt. Better luck next week to everyone who is searching. And may the odds be ever in your favour.  image
