Art has been used as a form of therapy for children and adults around the world for a very long time. It allows people to express how they are feeling without having to speak or put their thoughts into words. There are many websites and books around that give a fantastic insight into the use of art as a form of therapy. One of my favourites is call ‘Art as Therapy’ by Alain Bolton and John Armstrong. This book is defiantly worth a read or a look through even if just to see a range of famous artworks.
